One of the strategies that I will use in my classroom is Concept Oriented Reading Instruction (CORI). CORI is an instructional practice that incorporates many of the principles of activating prior knowledge. It will be a way to assess the amount of knowledge that my students may have prior to beginning a lesson. This way we will be able to either touch on things they already know and move on to other material or begin the lesson from the basic fundamentals of the material. Here is an example of a lesson on Shakespeare (click here) that we will use. This activity is tied to Georgia Performance standards: ELA9RL3, ELA9W2, ELA9W3.
